Who you're talking to

Every broker on LendChat is a licensed professional, regulated under Australian law. Here is what that means for you.

AI-powered assistant

When you start a chat, our AI-powered assistant will greet you first and ask a few questions to understand your situation before a licensed broker takes over the conversation. The assistant is not a broker and cannot provide credit advice. All AI processing occurs on servers in Sydney, Australia.

Licensed and regulated brokers

Every broker on LendChat holds an Australian Credit Licence (ACL) or operates as a credit representative under an ACL. This licence is issued by ASIC and regulated under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act (NCCP Act). To hold an ACL, brokers must meet ongoing education, professional development, and conduct requirements.

LendChat is a broker-client platform. We do not hold an ACL – the brokers you speak with do.

Best Interests Duty

Under Australian law, mortgage brokers are required to act in your best interests – not the lender's. This means the broker you speak with on LendChat is legally obligated to recommend loan options that suit your situation, and to prioritise your outcome over any commission or lender relationship.

What brokers can help you with

  • How much you may be able to borrow (subject to lender assessment and approval)
  • How refinancing works and whether it may be worth exploring
  • Loan structure – principal and interest vs interest only, fixed vs variable
  • The general home buying process for PAYG employees
  • What documents and steps are typically involved in a loan application

What brokers cannot do

Mortgage brokers operate under a Credit Licence – not a Financial Services Licence. This means they cannot provide investment strategy advice, tax advice, or recommendations about financial products such as shares or managed funds. If your question goes beyond the scope of credit and lending, the broker will let you know and may refer you to an appropriate professional.

All figures are indicative

Any figures discussed in a LendChat chat – including borrowing capacity, repayment estimates, or indicative rates – are general estimates only. They are subject to formal lender assessment, credit approval, and your individual financial circumstances. Nothing discussed on LendChat constitutes a formal credit assessment or loan approval.

Your privacy is protected

Your name, email, and chat messages are only visible to the broker assigned to your conversation. They are stored securely on Australian servers, encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not sell or share your information with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
