How much could you borrow?
Slide your income, partner income, dependants, and existing debts to see a rough borrowing ceiling. It uses the same APRA-style serviceability buffer a broker checks against, so it's a realistic starting point, not a guess.
How this estimate works
Lenders test your ability to repay a loan at an assessment rate roughly 3 percentage points above the actual rate on offer, an APRA buffer designed to absorb future rate rises. This calculator applies the same buffer, then checks the result against a household expenditure benchmark and a debt-to-income cap, the same two gates a broker checks early in a conversation.
What it doesn't know: your actual payslips, your credit history, or any single lender's specific policy quirks. Those move the number up or down once a broker looks at your file properly, which is the next step if this estimate looks workable.
